The Fisher-Price brand has over 90 years of experience in development through play and contains some of the most beloved and prominent infant items in the world, including Little People, Gyms & Playmats, Entertainers & Jumperoos, Walkers and Educational Toys. The brand is a 360-degree multi-generational franchise, with publishing and consumer products, content, smart connect, educational videos and partnerships with early education and development professionals. Last year, in this category, Mattel sold close to $1B globally and close to $700M in Infant.Â
Job Description
The Opportunity:Â
The SVP of the FP Core Brand oversees the global Newborn, Infant, and Toddler brand and marketing teams. This role reports directly to Mattel’s EVP & Chief Brand Officer leading the world’s largest Newborn, Infant, and Toddler portfolio starting with vision and strategy, through global execution. It defines category and brand strategy, manages partners, creates execution plans, deploys product lines, creates advertising and marketing programs and ultimately drives execution to the consumer through Mattel’s global subsidiary network in over 120 countries. The SVP leverages and influences the company’s diverse capabilities in design and development, Mattel Film and TV, short-form content, consumer products, digital gaming and live events to effectively lead the category and brand vision. Partners on global PR strategy & execution, leads new IP development to grow market share and develops retail partnerships to drive conversion. The role is responsible in developing marketing teams to engage and grow talent, while working cross functionally to execute product launches, marketing campaigns and retail activations.Â
This role is also the acting General Manager of Mattel’s East Aurora campus. As an on-site leader, this role is responsible for ensuring continuity across the category's cross-functional partners as well as maintaining and ensuring the support of the general campus wellbeing and productivity. The role will be responsible in partnership with Human Resources to ensure employee engagement and wellbeing goals are met. Additionally, this role will review and support continuous improvement goals for the campus and act as the campus lead representing other functional leaders locally.Â
The SVP is also responsible for creating and maintaining local philanthropic relationships with key partners and building connections as necessary. This includes Ronald McDonald House, Oshei Childrens Hospital, and the Buffalo Bills.Â
What Your Impact Will Be:Â
- Oversees the Fisher-Price portfolio of newborn, infant, and toddler products & sets strategic roadmap for Fisher-Price core brandÂ
- Defines category and brand strategy;Â sets brand vision for an iconic, heritage brandÂ
- Leads global brand strategy and marketing while identifying opportunities for the brand
- Manages partners, creates execution plans, deploys product lines, creates advertising and marketing programs and ultimately drives execution to the consumer through Mattel’s global subsidiary networkÂ
- Aligns with internal stakeholders and helps lead growth as outlined by the goals of the organizationÂ
- Collaborates with Mattel commercial and DTC teams on Omni channel marketing initiativesÂ
- Leverages and influences the company’s diverse capabilities in design and development, Mattel Film and TV, short-form content, consumer products, digital gaming and live events to effectively lead the brand visionÂ
- Drives change and innovation while removing barriers to executionÂ
- Creates inspiring promotions that speak to parentsÂ
- Responsible for one of Mattel's largest standalone campusesÂ
- Acts as a category champion within Mattel
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven ability to lead at an executive level, with strength building teams, developing talent stretching beyond the expected.Â
- A brand leader with a proven history of building/leading heritage brands while increasing cultural relevanceÂ
- An understanding that brand leadership is a balance of data and emotionÂ
- Expertise in marketing to parentsÂ
- Deep P&L Management experienceÂ
- Toy marketing and product experience, particularly at a toy manufacturer, preferredÂ
- Brand franchise experience, driving strategy, demand-creation and multi-faceted consumer engagementÂ
- Strong digital marketing capabilitiesÂ
- Significant executive presence, from board-level to street-levelÂ
- Commitment to driving category success while helping Mattel to win in the marketÂ
- Experience translating insights into commercial successÂ
- Deep knowledge of the Infant, Kid, and Family, consumerÂ
- Track record of leading high-performance teams and organizationsÂ
- Ability to build and maintain community relationships/partnershipsÂ
- A strong collaborator who can operate effectively in a matrix environmentÂ
- A global mindset- someone who can work with commercial teams in multiple regionsÂ
