SVP, Patient Engagement & Advocacy

At Spectrum, we are looking to add to our growing list of capabilities. The patient voice continues to become more and more important and powerful throughout the entire drug development process. As such, we are looking to establish a new Knowledge Center focused on Patient Engagement and Advocacy. We are currently looking for an SVP to lead a team that is responsible for ensuring the patient perspective is infused throughout all of our work, including public relations, advertising, medical communications and clinical trial recruitment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and build out agency capabilities as they relate to Patient Engagement and Advocacy
- Stay abreast of and interpret for teams and clients how regulatory agencies are defining “patient engagement” across all stages of drug development lifecycle
- Help ensure the patient voice is appropriately represented in our work on behalf of clients
- Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive strategies to collaborate with patients and the advocacy communities, delivering benefits to both patients and our clients
- Partner with the Research and Analytics and Science Knowledge Centers to map patient journeys and illuminate the patient experience in the therapeutic areas that we work
- Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with patient advocacy groups and patient engagement partners (i.e., The Savvy Cooperative)
- Contribute to the development of measurement frameworks that quantify the resonance and impact of our work with the patient communities we serve
- Build patient programs that are compliant and effectively engage with the patient community
- Contribute to thought leadership opportunities that positions Spectrum as a leader in the space, and helps clients understand what patient-centricity actually looks like, in practice, cross- functionally
- Collaborate across different Knowledge Centers and support Client teams across the various types of work we deliver to clients, including PR, advertising, med comms and clinical trial recruitment, to ensure our programs are reflective of the patient experience
- Work with client teams to identify opportunities for organic growth
- Participate in new business process for opportunities that include patient and advocacy engagement; lead those opportunities that focus on these areas
- Generate new business leads for clients looking to bring an agency in to support their patient advocacy and/or patient engagement functions
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- 10+ years agency or in-house experience
- Understanding of the FDA approval process
- Team management experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as a team
