Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a SW Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for a team of 10+ direct reports, consisting of software maintenance developers and software testers. You will be accountable for maintaining quality and implementing improvements to NCR's Point-of-Sale Fuel Controller product--a highly concurrent embedded system that orchestrates the behaviors of outdoor automated fuel dispensers.

You will also:

• Communicate directly with business customers and partners to understand and resolve problems both tactically (provide immediate relief/fix) and strategically (drive structural improvements to quality)
• Ensure project commitments are achieved using defined requirements and schedules to produce high quality deliverables in a challenging and dynamic environment
• Manage the team to defined metrics, SLAs, and organizational goals
• Provide effective mentoring and management of a team such that individual contributors have the opportunity and encouragement to grow in their respective careers
• Provide technical leadership to team
• Participate in the definition and implementation of effective processes and procedures
• Participate in technical calls with internal teams, external teams and customers
• Communicate effectively to appropriate levels of the organization to provide transparency and accountability for initiatives and their progress

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Services, MIS) or equivalent industry experience
• 2+ year of experience managing software development teams
• Required 8+ years of hands on object oriented programming experience
• Experience producing technical designs for software applications
• Ability to effectively multi-task; Ability to drive issues to effective resolution; Ability to find solutions to challenging, time-critical problems
• Ability to navigate the complexities of a global, matrixes organization
• Must excel in verbal and written communications
• Able to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Proven track record of improving overall quality of software and processes
• Able to troubleshoot complex systems including hardware and software systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Retail Industry or with Point of Sale (POS) systems, payments systems
• Experience managing global teams
• C++
