The Switching technical writers are part of the Switching Customer Solution Group (also called Application Engineering). Our task is to make sure that Marvell switching customer know how to use Marvell Switches and incorporate them in their system design.
Marvell switches are used by all the major companies that build the world Internet infrastructure and datacenters.
To help our customers, we provide them with comprehensive set of documents, describing the ASICs we sell, as well as the software drivers used to control and manage these ASICs.
The technical writer works closely with support engineers, ASIC designers and software engineers to crate the documents and make sure they are accurate and of high quality. The higher the quality of the documents, the less support the customer needs in designing his own system and the faster his systems reach production.

Unlike other companies, the technical writers’ team here is part of the Customer Support Group which places us closer to the customers and allows us to understand better the need of the users who read the documents.
The technical writers’ team is currently distributed in two locations in Israel. We hold weekly team meetings, in Zoom. There is also a weekly individual meeting with the team manager to go over the weekly assignments and status.

What You Can Expect

• The new hire will start with documenting software drivers, that are published in HTML.
• We are tracking software updates in JIRA. An engineer, usually an application engineer, will document the change and the technical writer needs to be able to track the documentation progress and then format it into the correct location in the user guide.
• Today we use FrameMaker as the main authoring tool, so the technical writer takes the engineering update, and place it in the correct location in the user guide, taking care of the formatting aspects.
• He/She needs to be able to understand if the content “make sense”, so the outcome is understood by the customer. Every update to the documentation goes through a review by a few engineers.
• Marvell is a hybrid workplace. Currently, we are working three days a week in the office and two days from home. We use Zoom and Slack for daily communication with colleagues when working from home, but the face to face in the office is still the best way to connect with others in the company.

What We're Looking For

• A good candidate for this position should have background in technical writing. Worked in engineering companies before and created engineering documents, both for hardware and software.
• He/she must know and worked with Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Visio.
• A nice to have requirement is HTML publishing, Doxygen, knowledge of CSS and familiarity with structured technical writing methodology.
• The technical writers in our group must be able to manage their time and handle more than one task at times.
• He/She will interact directly with engineers, sit with them, understand their explanation and document it.
• He/she should also be able to get engineering design documents and be able to create customer facing documents out of them.
