Job Description

ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services FAA NAS ESS contract. Join our growing team as a Computer Scientist in support of the NAS Engineering Support Tools Team.

Responsibilities:

• Computer Scientist perform research and maintenance of FAA software systems
• Provide operating system support and system administration
• Applies experience and detailed technical knowledge applicable to plan and accomplish assignments.
• Demonstrates independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments.

Requirements

• Must demonstrate initiative with minimal oversight
• Experience working in a team environment
• Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation
• 2+ Years of experience system administration in Linux OS such as RedHat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, AIX, etc.
• Managing users, groups, access controls, security policies and system logs
• Configuration of ports and firewalls
• Configuration of file systems, partitions, general storage, backup of resources
• Scripting - Bash, Perl, Python, etc.
• Patching/Upgrading of OS
• Monitoring system performance, security posture vulnerability
• VM Ware Virtualization Knowledge
• Willingness to learn and try new things, for example Oracle database config monitoring
• Oracle database administration and development experience
• Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required)
• Must be local to the OKC area. Will need to have the ability to interface with hardware when needed.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Mathematics -OR- A bachelor's degree with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted in lieu of the computer science degree, depending on other qualifications and experience.
• Proficiency with computer operating systems, software and hardware with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits, and testing.
