System Administrator

As a System Administrator on the Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for corporate IT deliverables and at times, support customer-facing initiatives. The work will vary in complexity and duration, and include lots of challenging problems to solve. It will involve members from the Boston Dynamics Engineering teams, IT Enterprise Applications, Information Security and Service Desk Operations. There is also an IT Program Management Office that will assist in managing work activities.

To thrive in this role, you must be able to quickly adapt in a rapidly changing environment, work well with our internal customers and external partners, and have a strong understanding of common infrastructure subsystems, including networking, protocols, servers and services. A passion for technology and customer focus is a must.

How you will make an impact:

• Proactively maintain and develop relevant Linux and POSIX-like technology to support our software and hardware engineering services.
• Automate systems solutions for various project and operational needs.
• Cultivate and maintain best practices for systems and services practices across environments
• Detect, diagnose and report hardware problems and network performance issues.
• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes for workstations, and network hardware.
• Create and modify scripts or applications to help automate or execute tasks.
• Provide input on the stability, security, efficiency and scalability of systems in all environments.
• Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
• Provide escalation support, mentorship and guidance to the service desk and junior admins
• Assist our InfoSec team with remediating vulnerabilities within your domain

We are looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant experience
• Minimum 5 years of multi-space OS system administration experience
• In-depth knowledge of Unix distributions such as Ubuntu Linux
• Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management
• Proficiency in Shell, Perl and/or Python scripting
• Experience with development and infrastructure automation tools, such as Docker, Puppet and ansible
• Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTPS, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
• Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
• Strong problem solving and communication skills
• Able to work independently and also as part of a broader, distributed team
