Job Description

The systems administrator II within Data Movement Technology Operations team is responsible for the ongoing development, administration and support of Data Movement Technology Systems. Systems include Momentum, Rightfax and Apigee and all work related to the setup and ongoing operations/support.

DMT Ops supports all business lines across the firm (across systems and business) in establishing connectivity to support internal/external client workflows and are called upon for SME support of production issues and projects. oftentimes interacting directly with external clients and vendors.

Key Responsibilities include:

This role will be responsible for configuring various methods of connectivity, including sFTP, and Fax, with internal and external clients (includes the development, interaction with clients to clarify requirements, coordination of testing, a level of consultation and troubleshooting). Those in this role will be expected to recognize when an issue requires escalation and be expected to make decisions and changes in production to troubleshoot (including working directly with internal/external clients and vendors).

Development:

  • Develop effective and efficient system configurations to provide appropriate resiliency and availability of applications/systems.
  • Develop, document and implement processes to extend, augment, or create new capabilities.
  • Identify and deliver on process improvement ideas.

Support:

  • Interact with DP-Ops, other systems staff, internal client groups, clients directly or vendors in complex testing, operational support and troubleshooting system problems.
  • Provide architectural guidance on standards and procedures for the efficient use of resources.
  • Provide production and development systems support (including off hours support on a rotating basis).

System Maintenance/ Administration:

  • Coordinate system hardware and software installs, patch installations, upgrades and maintenance (including on weekends on a rotating basis).
  • Monitor and maintain related application specific/OS performance tuning
  • Perform daily administration tasks (e.g. provisioning, onboarding,).
  • Coordinate regularly scheduled preventive maintenance (e.g. system, apply fixes).

Qualifications

  • BA or Equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience with Managed File Transfer (MFT) software a plus.
  • Basic understanding of VM and virtual host management a plus.
  • Basic understanding of system monitoring tools
  • Basic understanding of SQL (query, schema navigation - MS SQL Server) a plus.
  • Basic understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts (Firewall, Load Balancers, Proxy, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience with supporting & administering applications/systems running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or Linux variant) and Microsoft Windows a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Windows/Linux utilities and scripts a plus.
  • Experience with Fax/Telco technologies a plus.
  • Client service experience a plus.
  • Strong Communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong sense of technical curiosity
