Job Description
Protagonist is seeking a highly motivated and experienced System Administrator to support the company’s technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support, assist in managing the company’s IT security operations, and play a pivotal role in maintaining our underlying IT systems and networks.  Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with AWS to manage cloud-based infrastructure and services.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including help desk and system administration activities
- Implement and maintain NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and CMMC controls across all environments
- Enforce IT policies and procedures aligned with DoD security requirements
- Manage and optimize Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365 environments
- Administer multi-platform systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux)
- Manage MDM solutions for all company devices, including mobile phones
- Maintain and secure network infrastructure, including VPNs for remote access
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations and assist in security audits
- Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure needs and security integration
- Provide technical guidance and support to all departments
- Stay current with emerging technologies and suggest improvements to operations
- Assist in IT training initiatives for employees on security best practices and new technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in IT administration, preferably in a defense or DoD-related environment
- Strong knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and CMMC frameworks
- Extensive experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365 administration
- Proficiency in Windows, MacOS, and Linux administration
- Experience with MDM solutions (Intune, Jamf Pro, Jamf Protect)
- Strong understanding of network security, firewalls, and VPNs, and zero trust VPNs
- Experience with identity and access management systems (e.g., Azure AD, Google Workspace directory)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Familiarity with Crowdstrike Falcon endpoint detection and response (EDR) platform
- Solid understanding of DNS configuration and management
- Experience in iOS device management and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of mobile security best practices and mobile application management
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience managing a SIEM
- Active security clearance
Preferred Certifications:
- Google Workspace Administrator
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
- CompTIA Security+
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- ITIL Certification
- Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
Position Salary Range
$80,000 - $110,000 based on education, relevant experience, and security clearance level.
