Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator II to join our Position, Navigation, and Timing team. As a System Administrator II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. Your expertise in administering and configuring Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and virtualization technology will be essential in maintaining the stability and security of our computing resources.

Complete Description

As a System Administrator II, you will be responsible for coordinating with network administrators, interacting with users, and evaluating vendor products to make recommendations for hardware and software purchases.

• You will coordinate installation processes, provide backup recovery, and develop and monitor policies and standards for the allocation of computing resources.
• Setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, and tuning system performance will also be part of your responsibilities.
• Additionally, you will be involved in installing system-wide software, allocating mass storage space, and providing support for hardware and software issues, data recovery, system upgrades, software upgrades, configuration issues, system installation, and relocation.
• You will work closely with the Cyber Security team to perform STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) checks, address deficiencies, remediate findings, and ensure system hardening.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience administering and configuring Windows Server.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux.
• Experience in virtualization technology, particularly VMWare.
• Security+ or equivalent certification.
• Ability to lift at least 35 lbs.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with DoD STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides).
• Experience configuring and maintaining Networking Hardware, such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
• Experience utilizing cybersecurity software applications.
• Experience working with vendors to expedite installations and repairs for maximum uptime.
• Familiarity with Agile, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), and DevSecOps concepts.
• In-depth experience in Operations and Maintenance activities of IT infrastructure.
