Here's the Gist:
Overmolded Power Module (OPM) product line offers some of the most differentiated, disruptive and value-added SiC solutions within the automotive industry. We market our power modules globally to innovating market-leading customers. As System Engineer for On-Broad Chargers (OBC) you will be responsible for new product definition as well as system-level analysis of OPM product value proposition. You will interface with Product Marketing, Technical Marketing and Product Development teams and coordinate activities within the application and system engineering team dedicated to OBC. You will also interface with key customers gather and interpret customer requirements, translating them into functional product specifications. You will also contribute to product roadmap and definition on next generation products.
The Day-to-Day:
- Gather and interpret customer requirements, translating them into functional product specifications.
- Develop Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and support development of Engineering Requirements Documents (ERDs) as well as product Data Sheet (DS)
- Design and develop highly complex models or simulations for tradeoff analysis
- Assess and negotiate product specification tradeoffs with design teams and customers
- Provide complete documentation to support new product introduction (NPI) and product life cycle
- Key contributor within the Wolfspeed dedicate OBC system and applications team
- Provide remote and on-site customer support to key customer accounts for the integration of OPM products in their OBC designs
- Interface with Product Marketing, Technical Marketing and Product Development teams
- Interface with internal teams on testing and characterization testbeds for OPM product
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ year of experience developing power electronics systems.
- Experience developing 6.6 - 22 kW OBCs and background as system engineer is preferred
- Strong understanding of power electronics systems including semiconductor technology, gate drives, magnetics, electrical and thermal designs, etc.
- Experience in simulation tools (Spice, PLECS, etc.) for power conversion
- Knowledge about thermal management approaches for power electronics
- Excellent communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, and presentation)
- Some travel will be required
