System Operations Specialist

We are looking for a Cloud Support Engineer to join the Alertus team to assist with managing and maintaining public cloud servers and resources. This position will involve working with multiple teams to help maintain a stable infrastructure while skillfully creating and managing resources on the AWS platform.

This role may require occasional travel to our HQ in downtown Baltimore. Candidates must be located in the DC/MD/VA area.

A Day in the Life:

• Maintain and deploy servers or other public cloud resources per company standards
• Maintain and monitor Alertus Server software for public-facing end users
• Maintain or troubleshoot backend applications for internal use
• Assist with security monitoring and vulnerability scans
• Remain up-to-date with the company’s exclusive offerings and comprehend their integration with flagship products
• Assist in other troubleshooting tasks as directed

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments
• Firm grasp of networking, security protocols, and system administration practices
• Sound understanding of web servers and ensuring site reliability
• Aptitude for resolving system availability and performance challenges
• Maintains a professional demeanor in all business interactions, even when faced with challenges
• Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell and Ruby

Desired Skills:

• Ansible or similar automation
• Understanding or code repositories (git, etc.)
• A basic understanding of security and compliance audits

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated expertise with AWS, spanning from two (2) to four (4) years of hands-on experience
