System Software Engineer (Linux)

This role has been designed as ‘’Onsite’ with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.

Job Description:

• Job Family Definition:
Partner with OS Vendors to enable new HPE hardware. Validate, debug, and troubleshoot OS enablement and new hardware. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.

Responsibilities: 
• Partner with OS Vendors to enable new HPE hardware.
• Collaborates with OS Vendors and internal development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Validate OS changes for hardware enablement.
• Validate new OS releases on hardware.
• Debug and troubleshoot OS issues as needed.
• Interface with hardware teams on hardware design and OS Support requirements.

Knowledge and Skills: 
• Experience in Linux OS, Linux kernel a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Systems Software experience running on multiple platform types (x86_64, ARM)
• System Software testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.

Education and Experience Required: 
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 3+ years experience.
