System Specialist

Description

The System Specialist evaluates user problems and requests to determine exact problem origination.  This position researches and analyzes business problems to help determine cost effective solutions that support the business requirements.  

Responsibilities

• Provides technical training, guidance and resource support for users.   
• Acts as primary contact for all application system problems.
• Analyzes and documents problem, recommends solution and initiates corrective actions.
• Follows up on problem resolution and informs users of status.
• Serves as the information resource for users; including determination of the most appropriate data source, providing or arranging application-based report writing, or educating users to retrieve the information themselves.
• Remains knowledgeable of operations and the computer systems of the user to provide comprehensive support.
• Applies various analysis tools and techniques to increase quality, productivity, and overall effectiveness for users.  
• Serves as an Information Technology consultant to users.
• Reviews requirements to determine test plans.
• Documents and executes test plans.
• Serves as a liaison between the Business Analyst and Developer.
• Supports user help desk requests as assigned.
• Trains and instructs users on system operations and development logic, testing and implementation of new software solutions.
• Ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field  
• 2+ years’ of Insurance experience, preferably Life/Health
• Working knowledge of software systems supported by IT
