Department Overview

Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.
Part of a Service Organization, the main responsibilities of this position is to support technical resources of a customer care center as a Tier 2 Support. This work involves working with technical resources of the call center, analyzing daily issues coming from the users and customer, offer Tier 2 Support to the organization, identify responsibility, actions and prioritizing, understand existing procedures and improved them when required, resolve incidents and problems.
This position requires capacity to quickly assess the situation and respond in a timely manner using expertise in logic and diagnostic on the various systems supported. This individual must have working experience with Public Safety Communication Systems, IT infrastructure, including Networking, Servers, LAN, WAN, Application Support, Networking Peripherals. Able to work with all the levels of customer’s organization, from the basic user to the Section Manager. This individual is responsible for providing competent field system support, systems optimization and troubleshooting to our customer, subcontractors and communicates efficiently with them.
This position is based in Québec City and requires some travel in the province of Québec and occasionally elsewhere in Canada and the United States for training. This position includes on call situations support during evening/nights and weekend.

Ce poste nécessite des déplacements dans la province de Québec et occasionnellement ailleurs au Canada et aux États-Unis pour y suivre une formation. Ce poste inclut un soutien lors des situations de garde pendant la soirée / la nuit et le week-end.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities/Behaviors of the technician will include:

  • Provide technical assistance to call center, Subcontractors, Field Technicians, sometime after standard working hours, night and weekends.
  • Able to work on multiple large systems and technologies. Work across IT disciplines with application, network and database experts to ensure superior system performance and response.
  • Work with a high level of autonomy and rely on their own judgment to achieve desired results. Receive little instructions on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Participate all phases of complex maintenance functions on radiocommunication systems, IT systems, applications, hardware, and networks. Monitor and optimize systems for maximum performance, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Prepare system assembly, installation and test documentation, prepare inspection reports for subcontractors work and participate to field investigation when required.
  • Evaluate technical risk on all assigned projects
  • Demonstrate or willing to acquire a high level of system expertise on complex Motorola Communication systems ASTRO25 (APCO25).
  • Ability to meet project schedules.
  • Working overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules may sometimes be required.
