System Test Engineer (Automation)

We are in an accelerated growth phase and looking for highly motivated, accomplished, and driven System Test Engineers (Automation) to join our growing team. As a part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and products, from conception to deployment.
Location-wise, candidates should already reside within the SF/Bay Area, CA region as we promote a hybrid work model with 2-3-days in office requirement (for synergy, collaboration, engagement, and camaraderie with peers and management).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Define testing strategies by working with product, development and other teams across the company.
- Develop detailed test plans per the specifications and execute test cases via a combination of automation or manual testing.
- Triage integration issues reported by partners and field problems reported during real vehicle testing. Reproduce problems in house and assist the development team to identify root cause and solutions.
- Escalate potential issues (Software, Hardware, Resources) to Project Manager / Exec team.
- Track all necessary testing activities, including schedule, resources, and requirements, defects and resolution so that there is a clear alignment across key stakeholders.
- Identify areas of improvements in test coverage, methodology and provide suggestions.
- Act as the gatekeeper of each release and be the voice for customers and provide constructive feedback.
Qualifications and Experience - Senior Level
- Bachelor’s degree (MS preferred) in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or other related fields with 5-8 years of working experience in embedded software in data center, networking, security, cloud services or automotive industry.
- Excellent knowledge of test methodologies and experience with system level testing of physical devices.
- Well versed in software development processes of embedded products.
- Excellent knowledge of test methodologies.
- Excellent familiarity with Linux command line and knowledge of shell scripting.
- Good networking fundamentals, ideally paired with experience in cybersecurity.
- Review and challenge product requirement specification, design and functional specification, define test strategy, develop detailed end to end solution test plan and test cases.
- Ability to develop, review and modify Python scripts to enhance test coverage.
- Experience with design and implementation of test tools for automation. Ability to develop and improve automation scripts.
- Familiarity with common test frameworks such as PyTest, Behave, or similar
- Experience with test tools, such as Vector CANoe, VehicleSpy, PEAK, Spirent, IXIA, or similar products.
- Experience with JIRA, Jenkins or similar tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Qualifications and Experience - New Graduates
- Bachelor’s degree (MS preferred) in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or other related fields.
- Interest in software testing and related test methodologies.
- Fundamentals of networking: Ethernet, TCP/IP.
- Good familiarity with Linux-based systems: command line, shell scripting.
- Experience in software development processes of embedded products.
- Review and challenge product requirement specification, design and functional specification, define test strategy, develop detailed end to end solution test plan and test cases.
- Ability to develop, review and modify Python scripts to enhance test coverage.
- Experience with JIRA, Jenkins or similar tools.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
- An understanding of automotive networking infrastructure, including the transition and transformation from LIN, CAN, CAN FD to Ethernet, and how different ECUs work together within a vehicle.
- Cybersecurity expertise.
- Experience in automotive design review and audit processes, such as: ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE, or ASIL standards.
- Expertise with testing to meet functional safety requirements based on ISO 26262.
- Experience with designing and building test benches to test functionality of an ECU and intercommunication of different ECUs in the vehicle.
- Being well connected to be able to bring other talent is a big plus.
