Job Description

Rockwell Automation is doing things never before possible. We create products and systems that bring the connected enterprise to life. As the largest pure industrial automation company, we have both the products and resources to tackle the most challenging automation challenges our customers facesuch as digital twins, AI, edge devices, cloud software, etc.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our System Test team that focuses on system validation of our Controller products. These teams work with the product design teams to understand the expected functionality and performance of these products in a system.

In this role you will be:

  • Mentoring and developing 10-15 engineers including contractors.
  • Supporting our active and future products and features by contributing to our future roadmaps.
  • Building and reinforcing team culture
  • Onboarding new hires and contractors over time
  • Ensure system test activities comply with corporate and business level processes and procedures. Be responsible for helping the team think and create a continuous improvement mindset against those processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with product team Engineering managers to support time to market goals for our products.
  • Develop the team and assist them with goal setting and achievement. Directly supervise a team of system test engineers by providing for their continued development, motivation, and performing performance management. Work with individuals to help them reach their full potential.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive work environment to foster outstanding performance. Work with leadership to understand and then implement the vision of a performance driven and collaborative workplace.
  • Help your team eliminate non-value add work by leading improvement activities in design capabilities and processes so your team is best in class in development execution.
  • Be relentless in our pursuit of creating quality designs and high-quality software delivered and tested right the first time.

Basic Qualifications-

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical discipline, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in software product development with focus on test
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct people management experience.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring and developing high potential early and mid-career engineers to their full potential while also delivering complex products to the field on time with a world class quality position.
  • Excellent track record of developing early career talent into effective technical and people leaders
  • Experience in leading / developing system testing strategies.
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum way, ideally in a Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Experience with continuous delivery continuous integration style of embedded development.
  • Experience in industrial automation product development or related technical areas, including background with large scale manufacturing or process system automation projects.
  • Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development.
