Systems Admin Intern

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a temporary, full-time Systems Admin Intern to join our team in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Job Summary: This internship position (available for a maximum of 14 weeks) provides day-to-day technical support with setting up our Infinity production servers. Troubleshoots and follows through-to-resolution issues with networking components, Windows Server operating systems, SQL Server, and Linux platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Installs and configures Hyper-V, Windows Operating Systems, SQL Server and antivirus software. Setup IP addresses.
• System maintenance and monitoring of Windows Server operating systems and Linux platforms.
• Review of system logs, antivirus server logs, etc.
• Patch updates to the Windows Server operating systems, SQL Server, and Linux platforms
• Troubleshoots and follows through-to-resolution issues with networking components, Windows Server operating systems, SQL Server, and Linux platforms.
• Setting up user accounts, file/print permissions, etc. as required for both internal and remote users.
• Performs system backups and restores.
• Interaction with vendors.
• Continual performance enhancement of our Infinity production servers via the tweaking of the system configuration.

Qualifications:

• System Administration experience with Windows 2022.
• System Administration experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience troubleshooting issues with SQL Server Database
• Experience with SQL scripting.
• Experience supporting Virtual Environments using Hyper-V.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Highly motivated team player who can establish excellent working relationships with peers and other teams.
• Excellent verbal, phone, and written communication skills.

Desired Education & Skills:

• An individual working towards a Bachelors degree from an accredited educational institution preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
