Systems Administrator
Job Description
Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time System Administrator to support the Hangar18 Lab Integration effort at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) located at Wright-Patterson AFB. The System Administrator (SA) will be primarily responsible for deployment and configuration of networking and computing hardware inside of the laboratory environments along with Help Desk tasks and assisting with security configurations. The SA will assist with multiple aspects of the lab integration effort of Hangar18.
Responsibilities include:
- Deployment and configuration of laboratory-specific network and computing hardware (switches, network drops, portal/gateway computers, local network storage, etc.)
- Work with developers to resolve issues in a multi-lab and hybrid environment
- Construct, test and install both Windows and Linux workstations that meet STIG requirements
- Participate in projects that add new features or improve existing capabilities
- Participate as a key member of the Hangar18 Lab Integration
- Assist software engineers with deployment and configuration of general and specific software tooling to aid in connecting and data transfer between laboratories
- Utilize Hangar 18 productivity resources, including Jira, Confluence, Slack, and a Gitlab-based CI/CD pipeline
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows and Linux system administration
- Experience with DOD and Air Force networks and programs
- Experience with Azure and other cloud platforms
- Security+ certification or other DODD 8570 IAM Level II Certification required
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Utilization of critical thinking and innovation skills
- Must be able to work as part of a small, fast-moving team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
