Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and maintaining the system environments for the Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), LLC. This includes operational support of On-Premise & Azure Cloud Virtual Environment, Windows laptops, desktops, and servers, as well as participating as a member of a team in CRSP Project efforts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Install, configure, document, monitor, and maintain server software and infrastructure.
Primary systems include:

  • Operating systems: VMWare, Windows, and Linux
  • On-Premise and Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure
  • Server hardware: HPE Proliant
  • Ethernet Networking: Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches
  • Storage Area Network: Pure Storage flash array with Brocade fiber connections
  • And other systems/software/application as needed

  • 2. Install, configure, document, monitor, and maintain desktop/laptop software and infrastructure.
    3. Operational support

  • Provide help desk support for staff and consultants
  • Perform Active Directory administration
  • On-Premise VMWare infrastructure administration
  • Monitor and maintain server backup operations

  • 4. Research Systems support including the following:

  • SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS resources hosted on Microsoft Azure
  • SQL server administration and support
  • Build, deploy, and support software releases (Azure DevOps, Git
  • Support monthly research systems
  • 3rd Party application administration and support

  • 5. Effectively manage time between operation and project actives.
    6. Willingness to understand and support technology not part of core job responsibilities.
    7. Other duties as assigned.

  • Contributing to CRSP leading technologies, which improve systems and operating environment.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Required Education/Experience required:
  • Bachelor's Degree OR
  • Associate's Degree with at least 18 months relevant experience OR
  • Three (3) years relevant experience
  • Experience with Windows and Windows server administration required
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server administration required.
  • Experience in root cause analysis required.
  • Working knowledge of appliance and software-based firewalls preferred.
  • Working knowledge of virtual machines preferred.
  • Working knowledge of laptop, desktop, server and storage preferred.
  • Working knowledge of scripting / task automation preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and document technical concepts required.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills required, including the ability to analyze and evaluate information objectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to be reliable, accountable, and exhibit organization and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, required.
  • This position may require work outside of normal work hours for production support and performing maintenance and upgrades. Holiday coverage is required on a rotational basis.
  • A strong attention to detail is required to be successful in this role.

    HOURS: Normal Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some flexibility may be required. Some overnight, weekend and extended days may be required.
