Systems Administrator
Job Description
This position is responsible for the maintenance, administration and monitoring of physical and virtual servers, operating systems, backups, and various on-prem and SaaS applications.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors server uptime and ensures monitoring tools are configured and maintained
- Monitors server capacity and ensures issues are resolved promptly
- Monitors daily backups and works to resolve backup issues
- Performs daily maintenance of file servers, print servers, SQL database servers, application servers, and domain controllers
- Creates and deploys Hyper-V Hosts and virtual machines as needed
- Performs Windows Server OS upgrades as needed
- Administers company's RingCentral communications platform
- Administers the company's server monitoring tool to ensure alerts are functioning and delivered in a timely manner
- Deploys Windows Updates to servers on a monthly schedule or sooner, if needed
- Creates and manages Group Policies
- Keeps company infrastructure up-to-date and recommends when hardware replacements and/or upgrades are needed
- Administers and performs software installations & upgrades
- Maintains Active Directory objects, OU organization, and LDAP integrations
- Monitors, and resolves performance issues with Hyper-V VMs and hosts
- Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices
- Works with external vendors to obtain quotes, schedules demos & training calls
- Processes assigned tickets through the IT Service Desk
- Maintains and supports CAD/CAM Software
- Administers and maintains end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights
- Performs data recoveries as needed
- Recommends, schedules, and performs system improvements, upgrades, and repairs
- Provides end-user support for roughly 50% of the day
- Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience supporting and administrating Windows servers and Windows XP, Windows 7 & 10 workstations.
- 3+ years of Microsoft Windows OS installations and upgrades (2012+ preferred)
- 3+ years of Active Directory experience
- 2+ years of Hyper-V experience
- 2+ years of hands on and over the phone troubleshooting experience
- 2-year technical degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Excellent customer service skills

- Able to present technical concepts and ideas in user-friendly language

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is also frequently required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while moving IT equipment or small packages. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office, manufacturing, and cleanroom environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
