JOB SUMMARY

The System Administrator I ensures proper computer operations so that end users can get their work done. You'll be responsible for receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. This might involve using diagnostic tools and tracking requests, as well as providing, hands-on assistance at the desktop level. This position qualifies for a hybrid work environment. You will be required to be in the office a minimum of 2 days between Tuesdays through Thursdays.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Has a friendly demeanor while handling service requests from end users via telephone, e-mail and customer ticket submissions
  • Documents relevant user information including name, company, contact information, and details of the problem or issue
  • Builds rapport with customers and digs into the details of their problems
  • Prioritizes and schedules problems, and escalates where necessary to more experienced technicians
  • Keeps a record of the entire customer service request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions and actions taken, until the problem is resolved
  • Uses diagnostic utilities to troubleshoot problems
  • Refers to software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and FAQs on the internet to help solve problems
  • Familiarizes yourself with software and hardware used and supported by the organization
  • Conducts hands-on fixes at the desktop and server level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications
  • Performs preventative maintenance by checking and cleaning workstations, printers, and peripherals
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved
  • Follows up with customers after resolving their requests
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends to prevent future problems
  • Develop help sheets and FAQs users
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • College diploma in computer science or related field or 2 years equivalent work experience
  • Experience supporting Microsoft desktop and server operating systems and Microsoft Office

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in the field of computer science
  • 2 years equivalent work experience

  • Comp-TIA Network+
  • Comp-TIA A+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CCNA
  • MCITP
  • MCSA
  • MCSE

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including PC's, printers, laptops, servers
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic utilities
  • Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, active listening, and effective skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to research a wide range of computing issues as required
  • Quick learning and information retention abilities
