We currently have a need for a Systems Compute Architect with 7+years of relevant work experience in an infrastructure architect role.
The infrastructure architect’s primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide full lifecycle expertise (Design & Architecture, Implementation, and ongoing Management/Maintenance) for solutions related to virtual infrastructures such as:
- On-premises/private cloud virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix
- Hardware/infrastructure components such as Cisco HyperFlex, Cisco UCS, and similar hardware platforms from major vendors like Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise
- Cloud Infrastructure as a Service platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- On-premises/private cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions such as Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, VMware View or Horizon, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
- Cloud-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions such as Citrix Cloud, Microsoft Windows365, and Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
- Perform health checks, security evaluations, capacity analysis, and adherence to corporate configuration and usage standards of virtual infrastructure in client environments
- Perform performance evaluation and optimization of virtual infrastructure and virtual desktop solutions
- Integration of Virtual Infrastructure with Microsoft Active Directory and/or Linux-based directory systems
- Creation and maintenance of system architecture, configuration documentation, design specifications, asset records, operational policies, system acceptance test plans, etc…
- Coordination with and assistance to the System Engineering team with inventory capture and maintenance, policy planning and implementation, and development of user experience improvement plans
Required Experience and Skills:
- Seven (7) or more years of experience with virtual infrastructure architecture, deployment and management experience in enterprise scale environments with management products such as VMware vCenter and LIfeCycle Manager, Microsoft System Center, and other similar products.
- Two (2) or mor years of experience with virtual desktop infrastructure architecture, design, deployment and management experience.
- Five (5) or more years of VMware-specific experience, including but not limited to:
- VM deployment, customization, and automation (via VMware Orchestrator)
- vCenter configuration and usage
- vRealize Suite usage (Automation, Operations, Log Insight, Lifecycle Manager)
- VSS and vDS configuration and usage according to Network Topology
- Full vSphere infrastructure deployment and/or upgrade – including install/configure ESXi, vCenter, Networking, Storage, and vCenter add-ons such as VMware Orchestrator, LifeCycle Manager, etc…
- Troubleshooting, remediation, and optimization of vSphere infrastructure
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- VMware Certified Professional (“VCP”)
- VMware Certified Design Expert (“VCDX”)
- Expert level experience with the following hardware platforms:
- Cisco HyperFlex
- Cisco UCS
- Dell HyperConverged solutions
- Dell Blade Server solutions
- HP HyperConverged solutions
- HP Blade Server solutions
- Nutanix
- Dell/EMC Storage solutions (iSCSI and Fiber Channel, including zoning configuration)
- HP EVA/Alletra/Nimble Storage Solutions
- IBM B- and C- series SANs (iSCSI and Fiber Channel, including zoning configuration)
- NetApp FAS SANs (iSCSI and Fiber Channel, including zoning configuration)
- OVM/KVM systems
- Expert level experience with the following software solutions:
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Linux/Unix Servers (Oracle, Red Hat, Suse, and derivatives)
- System Monitoring & Performance Analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Microsoft MAPS, Liquidware, and similar
- Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Visio
Required Soft Skills:
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must work well in a high-pressure environment and keep cool under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to follow-up from issue to resolution.
- Have strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics and making presentations to internal groups.
- Ability to write intricate system and user documentation. Capable of writing and explaining purchase justifications

Position is hybrid, onsite 2 to 3 days a week in Jamaica, NY, salary $150k to $165k.
