Systems Engineer

Our Systems Engineers design and craft the underlying infrastructure that powers the Yext cloud platform.  This means adapting the best open source and commercial technologies into an infrastructure architecture that our Software Engineers can utilize to develop the Yext platform.  A Systems Engineer designs, crafts and operates the environments in which our Software Engineers develop the Yext platform.  Our main charge is to develop reliable, predictable, transparent, and secure infrastructure in both our colo’s and clouds, and to advise our Software Engineers and other Systems Engineers on how to best utilize it.

What You'll Do 

• Design, implement and operate our production infrastructure
• Utilize and/or develop automation tools
• Optimize system performance for our applications
• Plan for capacity requirements in a growing environment
• Develop operational procedures and policies for full system life cycles across all stacks
• Participate in an on-call rotation

What You Have

• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience with large-scale technology systems
• 0-3 years of work experience in a large-scale SaaS or software development environment
• Experience with the Linux operating system, ideally CentOS
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language 
• Working knowledge of at least one of AWS, GCP or Azure
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
• Configuration management tools, ideally Ansible
• Strong interest in using and adapting open-source software
• Basic networking skills, including DNS, firewalls, and load balancing
• Version control systems (Git, Mercurial)
• Commitment to documentation and knowledge-sharing
• Good communication skills
