Systems Engineer

Two Six Technologies is looking for a Systems Engineer to work in a fast paced, research driven organization. The ideal candidate will provide resources in the disciplines of networking, data center operations, servers and services, remote access, virtualization, and inventory and records management.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assisting with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all data center infrastructure.
• Assisting with the development of new infrastructure plans, upgrade planning, and other future system designs as needed to support the enterprise.
• Monitoring, analyzing, and resolving hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion as ability allows.
• Able to work and problem solve independently, with the awareness to escalate problems, as needed, to avoid productivity delays.
• Attention to detail, ability to follow specific instructions to complete some tasks.
• Works in close cooperation with Security, Facilities, and Operations teams.
• Maintain documentation of systems, problem resolutions, and instructions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2+ years of working with systems in a data center environment: Servers, Racks, Cable Management, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of network technologies in OSI Model Layers 1 through 3.
  • Understanding of physical connections, cable types, etc.
  • Ability to work with network switching: VLAN, ACL, etc.
  • IP Traffic: routing, NAT, etc.
• Familiarity with data storage methods and techniques including redundant systems such as RAID or a Storage Area Network.
• 2 years of experience with, and a solid understanding of various operating systems for both computers and network hardware.
• Network Device OS’s such as Cisco IOS and similar, Netgear, Ubiquiti, and others.

Nice If You Have:

• Ability to work on Linux systems: this skill is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with virtualization (hypervisors and VMs)
• Comfortable using a text console to work on systems.
• Interest in keeping abreast of emerging technologies and/or better ways to “build things”
• Ability to simplify complex systems and describe via diagrams and/or written text.
