Systems Engineer

Position Overview
The Systems Engineer role has primary responsibility for designing and development of server based solutions for Microsoft Windows Server OS / VMWARE/ Unix / Linux / storage platforms in our enterprise environments along with other infrastructure solutions. General duties include building to standards as defined by the organization. Taking into consideration monitoringtuning, capacity planning, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, standardization, continuous improvement, and assisting in the long term strategic planning for the environment. Partners with management and other engineers to provide technical support using their background to take on entry level work assignments the team is engaged in. Works with Advanced, Senior and Lead Engineers to support the environment. Strong people skills and the ability to balance a large work load are essential.
What You'll Do

• Design, deploy, administer and support core technologies (e.g. Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Redhat)
• Assist in defining and documenting best practices and support procedures
• Stay current with technological developments
• Assist in conducting research and making recommendations.
• Strong customer focus and management of client expectations; ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence in IT's knowledge of and concern for users' business needs.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse types of audiences (management, users, vendors, technical staff) in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding. Ability to write clear proposals and technical documents

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Experience building and deploying server and storage based solutions
• Experience using/leveraging server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX, Microsoft HyperV/Virtual Server or equivalent
• Experience managing networks
• Highly desirable certifications but not required:
  
  • CompTIA Server+
  • Linux Professional Institute (LPI): LPIC System Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization
