Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a skilled Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer (M&S SE) to support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA's) Modeling and Simulation Directorate (DES). The M&S SE will be an active participant in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary effort to provide M&S resources for the developmental testing of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This developmental testing consists of Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI) activities, Ground Tests, Pre & Post-mission testing using distributed Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) resources, and performance assessments using digital Models and Simulations (M&S). The successful candidate will enjoy working independently and as part of a team of highly skilled professionals to solve complex technical problems.
MDA relies on large scale System-of-Systems (SoS) simulations composed of the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWIL) Elements, and Digital simulations to perform engineering studies and to assess the capabilities of the MDS. For HWIL testing, the simulation is referred to as the Ground Test Integrated Simulation System (GTISS). For Digital assessments, the simulation is referred to as the End-to-end Digital Integrated Simulation System (EDISS).
In support of MDA/DES, the M&S SE provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on the capabilities of OSF, GTISS, and EDISS; identifies M&S capabilities needed to support MDA test programs; provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical input and reviews; and helps coordinate M&S development schedules between DES and prime contractors.
Responsibilities and areas of support include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate with other MDA SMEs, DES, and prime contractors to identify needs for new M&S capabilities
- Provide SE support throughout the full lifecycle of OSF, including development, integration, execution, test, analysis, and VV&A in both HWIL and Digital venues.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that could impact development schedules or overall performance of the HWIL and Digital M&S
- Perform SME review of prime contractor deliverables, including requirements, Formal Qualification Test (FQT) plans, procedures, and reports.
- Provide SME input to prime contractor Agile software development processes, including roadmaps, definitions of features/epics/acceptance tests, agile team demonstrations, and program increment planning.
- Participate in and lead technical meetings and working groups
