Systems Engineer (Flow Information Exchange Model)

LST is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide support for the FAA Flow Information Exchange Model (FLXM) program. The ideal candidate will support the FLXM program in the effort to implement enterprise-wide information exchange standards in the Flow Domain.

Flow Information Exchange Model (FLXM) is a new standard proposed by the FAA for Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) information exchange to support the broader effort to implement enterprise-wide information exchange standards. The goal is to provide a standard for information in the Flow Domain, which has not previously had a standard of its own. The Flow Domain comprises information that describes a Traffic Management Initiative (TMI) or similar constraint that exists directly because of it.

Job Responsibilities

• Model Traffic Management Initiatives (TMIs) and schema into FLXM Release Packages.
• Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to build a roadmap for future releases.
• Develop an LST standard for modeling activities, which includes detailing the tools needed and the roles and responsibilities of project participants.
• Enable interoperability between NAS and international exchange models.
• Engage with internal FAA stakeholders to support their utilization of FLXM
• Interact with International Stakeholders to promote the adoption of FLXM
• Take part in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) activities related to the adoption of FLXM

Required

• Demonstrated experience working with XML
• Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture (EA) best practices and strategies
• Strong communication skills to interface with customers
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-discipline team environment
• Ability to operate in an environment with ambiguous/undefined problems and think abstractly
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a history of independently delivering high-quality and solutions and processes
• Strong attention to detail, well-organized, and ability to self-prioritize, and manage multiple tasks as the project develops

Preferred

• Experience with XMLSpy software
• Experience working with exchange models (e.g., AIXM, FIXM)
• Experience with international aviation activities
• Understanding of Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) activities

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or Information Systems or related field.
• 7-15 years of experience as a systems engineer
