MITRE's Naval C4I & Space Department is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as a Systems Engineer. MITRE's Naval C4I & Space Department delivers innovative engineering technologies, concepts, and methodologies and performs research and development designed to address our Naval sponsors' hardest challenges. This position requires creative problem solving through novel applications of systems engineering principles in collaboration with diverse and geographically dispersed teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in systems engineering to shape requirements, technology assessments, and development and implementation strategies for the modernization and fielding of critical Naval capabilities
  • Serve as a key contributor to or leader of dynamic, multi-disciplined teams that develop technical solutions through innovation
  • Collaborate with sponsors in the application of analytical techniques to address their hardest engineering challenges
  • Clearly and concisely communicate highly technical analyses and recommendations to sponsors and partners in written and verbal products
  • Implement systems engineering principles to develop data-driven insights and mature them into actionable recommendations that achieve mission outcomes for the Navy

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step
  • Ability obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
  • Possess the familiarity with Systems Engineering processes required to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze programs, and make recommendations
  • Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level security clearance
  • Familiarity with Naval C4I & Space systems from technical and/or operational perspectives
  • Familiarity with a range of systems engineering lifecycle activities including, but not limited to, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment
  • Familiarity with any of the following disciplines:
    • Model-based systems engineering
    • System of systems engineering
    • Agile methodologies
    • Cybersecurity
    • Information security
    • Data science
    • Mathematical modeling and simulation
    • Software development
    • DevSecOps
    • Machine learning
    • Artificial intelligence
    • Operations research
    • Science & technology capability assessments, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives
    • Tactical communications under denied, degraded, intermittent, low-bandwidth conditions

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$105,500 - $132,000 - $158,500 Annual
