This position is responsible for maintaining and administering an extensive global systems infrastructure. Primary duties will include the development and maintenance of efficient systems and processes, implementation of global infrastructure services, delivery mission critical infrastructure and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Reviewing day-to-day operational issues by collaborating with individual users in order to identify potential issues and resolve exiting problems.

Must have a strong understanding of system infrastructure design, implementation, management, lifecycle process and industry best practice standards.

A deep knowledge and understanding of service applications, including but not limited to, Microsoft Server environments, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange, clustering, virtualization using VMWare and other hypervisors, as well as associated infrastructure components that must be integrated within the environment. This role is also accountable for maintaining multiple Linux operating systems, including NTP, LAMP and other data services.

The system engineer will be accountable for documenting and providing recommendations to management related to improvements, end of life upgrade and serviceability requirements as well as general organization efficiency gained through system and infrastructure implementations.

Major Accountabilities:
• Oversee compute infrastructure to maximize performance and minimize downtime• Manage, maintain and manage performance of multiple virtualized infrastructures and running servers/services• Confer with management and users regularly to clarify operational needs• Design and implement system components and solutions, including equipment procurement• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems• Coordinate system access, authentication methodologies and use• Continually research new technologies and educational opportunities• Architect, implement, and maintain system infrastructure solutions that provide improvements, including private cloud and integrations with services and systems running within the infrastructure, as well as public cloud infrastructures• Communicate with team to identify needs, monitoring performance, and troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with infrastructure components and applicable running services within the environment• Provide project management on various network activities including upgrades, new implementations, and migrations, with technical direction and user support as needed• Create, revise, update, and maintain documentation of environment and operational procedures• Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions• Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required• Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing appropriate infrastructure security measures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in VMWare, Linux, or Microsoft related functional systems preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working within a Microsoft systems infrastructure and VMWare (or other virtualization technology) hardware environment, with direct hands-on knowledge of enterprise related services (email, file sharing, group policies and access requirements).
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, monitoring, and repairing system infrastructure systems, virtual environments, and services.
  • Professional certifications (MCSA, MCSE, LPI/Linux)
  • Extensive knowledge with Microsoft Windows Server (2016 and later), Microsoft Exchange 2016+/O365, Microsoft Azure environments and Active Directory best practice design and functional management.
  • Knowledge of setup, best practice configurations, management, and monitoring of Linux compute infrastructure, consisting of Ubuntu, Red Hat ES, and CentOS.
  • Proficiency with system infrastructure components, including servers, virtualization, corporate e-mail, backup and storage systems, rack design and power management best practices.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Strong understanding of system infrastructures and associated hardware
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot system infrastructure devices, including servers and associated applications, as well as other interconnected systems through API's or direct integration.
  • Ability to create accurate infrastructure diagrams and documentation for design and planning infrastructure improvements and enhancements.
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
  • Strong documentation skills, with experience creating infrastructure diagrams and process flows
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal
  • BA/BS Degree in Technology related field (focus on network engineering) and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
