Systems Engineer
Job Description
The candidate will develop and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation of advanced system requirements. Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity in the analysis of advanced air and missile defense simulation systems.As such, the candidate's initial primary responsibility will be to familiarize themselves with the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) system, specifications, models, and simulations to verify and validate correct simulation operation.Additionally, the candidate will dive deep into the simulation codebase and output to understand and analyze model behavior, identify system issues and problems and recommend solutions. The candidate will develop a broad understanding of advanced air and missile defense system of systems and component systems including sensors, launchers and interceptors. The candidate must have excellent communication skills as they will be coordinating with personnel throughout the organization to understand, test and analyze concepts and features.Finally, the candidate must be able to quantify and communicate system performance, behavior, and issues to an audience that includes stakeholders with technical and non-technical backgrounds.Candidate may lead or mentor more junior engineers/analysts on portions of the project.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or other STEM degree from an ABET accredited school.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience
- Proficiency with C/C++ and/or Java.
- Experience with sensor system specifications, models, and simulations.
- Experience analyzing an existing software codebase to understand system behavior.
- Experience analyzing output logs to understand system performance and behavior.
- Experience with Linux and MS Windows environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate must be comfortable working in a multi-contractor/government seamless environment.
- Travel may be required for this position.
- Position requires that candidate meet requirements to obtain a final security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to obtain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS - Master of Science degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or mathematics.
- Professional experience and knowledge of the LTAMDS system.
- Proficiency with source code management tools (GIT).
