Tendeg LLC is a premier spacecraft deployables company. Our novel designs are enabling exciting missions providing high gain antennas for sensor applications and communications. We have multiple antennas on-orbit and numerous flight deliverables occurring in 2023. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar; and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. Title: Systems Engineer

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $110,000-$160,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

About the role: We are looking for an Aerospace Systems Engineer that will support one of the following programs:

  • INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models

  • SDC: NASA has selected Tendeg to develop a large rectangular aperture deployable antenna for a Surface Deformation and Change mission. Tendeg completed TRL-6 testing of the baseline antenna, which is 7x1.4m and operates at C-band, and is studying a 12x2m configuration at L-band. https://science.nasa.gov/earth-science/decadal-sdc.

  • 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO to lunar applications.

What you will do:

  • Provide spacecraft systems engineering support of technical teams for the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Tendeg Antennas and Subsystems.
  • Develop system architectures, concept of operations, and architecture to requirements traceability.
  • Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program.
  • Coordinate with multiple subject matter experts to develop the required requirements allocation, analysis, and verification artifacts.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the design baseline within the system architecture model.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and training of flight hardware tests for the production floor.
  • Support engineering in the handling and operation of flight hardware under test
  • Assist with test equipment selection and development of test fixtures.
  • Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR).
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key job requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience working systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to review effective and verifiable requirements – detail oriented.
  • Experience with the traditional systems engineering lifecycle, phases, processes, inputs/outputs and artifacts.
  • Customer Relationships: basic knowledge of missions and customers across core technologies areas.
  • Knowledge/experience working with critical customer base, established relationships with key personnel within customer community.
  • Good presentation skills with experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.
