Systems Engineer - ATC Voice
Job Description
LST is seeking an experience Systems Engineer to provide support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the William J. Hughes Technical Center. The successful candidate will support the FAA in the development/test/validation for various systems. This candidate will support the ATC Voice Communications Branch (ANG-E64) and will primarily provide software support, development, and documentation of various systems.
Requirements
- Applicant must possess or meet eligibility requirements for passing a background check.
- Must have 15 or more years of relevant experience.
- Python experience, particularly in UI development, as well as using/developing libraries (eg. GL Comm libraries)
- General Linux experience and basic terminal commands
- Windows 10 processes, remote desktop, installation
- Basic Git commands, usage, and practices
- Basic VOIP experience and knowledge
- Basic audio/voice analysis knowledge
- Experience using GL Comm applications (MAPS, Voice Quality Test [VQT], VQUAD)
- Familiarity with scrum framework or related agile methodologies.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with voice switching and recording systems used in NAS facilities, such as Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT), Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON), Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) and Automated Flight Service Stations (AFSS) is a must.
- Develops and executes test and evaluation plans, procedures, and reports, and evaluates and recommends designs and/or alternative approaches to design that provide the optimum solution while balancing specific project needs at various life-cycle stages.
- Ability to perform detailed work with little guidance and interact in a positive manner with other government and industry personnel.
- Proven, effective interactions and communication with managers, employees, customers, and stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- VoIP knowledge including expertise in European Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) Documents (EDs) such as ED-136 (VoIP ATM System Operational and Technical Requirements), ED-137 (Interoperability Standards for VoIP ATM Components) and/or ED-138 (Network Requirements and Performances for VoIP ATM Systems).
- Demonstrated experience in telecommunications, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Wide Area Network (WAN)/Local Area Network (LAN), legacy NAS communication interfaces, power and grounding system requirements, and general electronic communications performance within the NAS is desired.
- Experience in developing, coordinating and conduct voice communications test plans and procedures and serving as a test lead is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with NAS Architecture, NAS modernization and NextGen programs is also desirable.
- Experience with developing and managing KSN repository is desirable.
- Experience in Test procedure development, review and conduct is desired.
- Experience with Problem Trouble Report (PTR)/ Deficiency Report (DR) generation, status and reporting experience desired.
- Experience in using basic software packages such as MS Office suite used for requirements tracking and analysis is desired.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science or related engineering fields from an accredited college or university.
- Master's Degree in related field may be substituted for Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience.
- PhD in related field may be substituted for Bachelor's degree and 7 years experience.
