Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in general workstation or server administration
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office/365 suite of applications
- Firm grasp of at least one programming, configuration, or scripting language like C#/.NET, Go, Ansible, PowerShell, or Terraform
- Understands source code management (SCM) and is comfortable with Git (preferred), TFVC, or SVN
- Understands branches, forks, pull requests and other related concepts
- Working knowledge of an IDE or code editor like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Atom or Notepad++
- Understands code-sharing and publishing services like GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket
- Thorough understanding of computer networking (DHCP, DNS, HTTP, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6, OSI model)
- Comfortable working with a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) platform like CircleCI, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or GitHub Actions. Alternatively, experience with a job scheduling/orchestration platform like Rundeck or Tidal.
- Firm grasp of at least one of the following domains:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its related services (Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, Route53, ECS, Elasticache, VPC, etc.)
- Windows Server
- Linux operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Rocky, SUSE, Ubuntu, Debian)
- Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and their respective components (Rancher, Helm, Trusted Registry, etc.)
- Server hardware and data center architecture
- Understands client-server architecture with relation to web/app servers, databases and other infrastructure platforms
- Able to troubleshoot a variety of familiar and unfamiliar technologies using existing knowledge and expertise
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to computer science or information technology
- Experience working in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure
- Prior experience working in a customer-facing role and/or helpdesk
- Prior experience working on physical hardware in a datacenter environment
- Working knowledge of any of the following: VMware, Redis and/or other caching technologies, Splunk, Azure DevOps, PowerBI, Dynatrace, ServiceNow or PagerDuty
- Knowledge of agile development and delivery processes
Role Summary
As a Systems Engineer at Rocket Central, you will be responsible for building, integrating, and troubleshooting server infrastructure as well as ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the information systems that support the entire portfolio of companies that comprise Rocket Companies. An ideal candidate has a wide breadth of experience in private/public clouds, operating systems, an automation-first mentality, learns quickly and thinks outside the box with familiar and unfamiliar technologies.
Role Purpose
In the near-term, a team member in this role will be focused almost exclusively on security and vulnerability management within our infrastructure platforms - adding systems to automated maintenance windows, managing risk/penetration test findings, and working with our information security team to address larger threats in the environment.
Longer-term, a team member in this role will support a wide variety of infrastructure platforms and initiatives with break-fix, security, buildout/architecture, and general operational functions. This can include anything from automating server operating system upgrades, building a new Terraform module to support a business need, or helping an application team troubleshoot a connection issue between their EC2 instance and an S3 bucket, to name a few.
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application teams and other infrastructure engineers to build, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure in our private and public clouds using a wide array of proprietary and open-source technologies
- Install, support, and configure systems or applications that make our team members productive
- Partner with the business and other technology teams to develop, champion, and support new technologies
- Develop automation to handle complex, time-consuming workflows and processes
- Write documentation and record knowledge of systems that we support
- Participate in an on-call rotation every 13-16 weeks

Colorado, New York City, California, and Washington Candidates Only. The salary range for this position is seventy thousand dollars to one hundred forty-seven thousand five hundred dollars.
