Systems Engineer, Connected Tools Engineering

Job Description:

Summary:

Connected Tools System Engineers support the development, implementation, and testing of features which create value & solve complex data issues for Allison Transmission's connected tools customers. The scope of connected tools spans telematics hardware, wireless communication, cloud computing and website/dashboard design. System engineers gather use cases & stories & translate them into actionable technical requirements. They are they key integrators of cross-domain technologies which are pulled together to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical analyses including FMEA, cybersecurity TARA, etc. on digital & connected tools & portals
  • Convert use cases from multiple stakeholders, including Sales, Service, Engineering, and IT into engineering requirements
  • Collaborate & shape design of hardware, software, connectivity, data, cloud, and website capabilities as product owner during development
  • Establish and execute robust engineering practices to continue to deliver digital tool products which support Allison brand promise
  • Works closely with project manager to develop & collect project deliverables
  • Execute system level validation plans along with QA & Validation teams

Required Education:

BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science

Preferred Education:

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred Knowledge:

  • 5-10 years of software engineering experience
  • Interest in real-time embedded controls development
  • Experience with Linux embedded operating systems
  • Experience with C/C++ or other compiled software languages
  • Experience with engineering analysis & problem-solving techniques
