OVERVIEW
Caribou Thunder is seeking a Systems Engineer III to maintain and sustain a vital satellite communications mission. This role is Satellite subject matter expert Technical Advisor position for an aging operational military satellite communications system in an operations environment as a member of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) Site Sustaining Engineering Team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of experience
- OR Master’s plus 2 years of experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform the duties of an on-site Resident Technical Advisor as a member of the DSCS Site Sustaining Engineering Team.
- Responsible for the day in the life technical support to 4 SOPS with respect to the bus and payload.
- Provide spacecraft bus/payload engineering support of current mission objectives.
- Plans and performs seasonal satellite performance assessments to trend key data and determine operational effectiveness and longevity.
- Provides satellite operations recommendations to the Air Force to maximize effectiveness and minimize adverse impacts on the DSCS mission.
- Provides engineering and operations technical advisor support to the Air Force crews, engineers and leadership to include on-console support of complex vehicle activities.
- Provides spacecraft engineering support to the Air Force to resolve operational problems and vehicle anomalies.
- Main point of contact to 4 SOPS for maintaining the health and status of the DSCS constellation.
- Support 4 SOPS with all engineering level support to include command plan development and review, on console support during satellite commanding operations and anomaly recovery support while on an on-call rotation requiring 24/7 recall status.
- Overtime, travel, and shift work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a subject matter expert in satellite operations.
- Must have satellite BUS/Payload Subsystem experience.
- Must have previous satellite subsystem and S-band satellite command and control experience.
- Satellite operations and/or technical advisor experience.
- DSCS experience.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills are imperative.
- Must be a self-starter and able to accomplish tasks in a timely manner with limited direction.
- Must be able to work both independently as well as part of a diverse integrated team contractors, subcontractors, and Air Force personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Required to work some shift work and weekends specifically, in support of anomaly resolution and special test events.
- Availability for 24/7/365 recall to site within 75 minutes
