Let's talk about the team

The primary role of Engineering function within Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. Works closely with customers, developers and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write and test code for the product should be matched in the either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers who specialize in hardware systems should be matched to Hardware Engineering.

Senior Cloud System Engineers support the development, implementation, and promotion of improved infrastructure architectures and best practices. System Engineers provide an interface to the customer development teams, provide systems focus when designing application architectures, and tune/optimize deployed applications from a systems perspective. This requires an individual with proven experience with:

• Cloud computing - AWS & Azure
• CI/CD management and implementation
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience - Terraform Scripting
• Infrastructure and server optimization
• Expert-level experience with Linux operating systems.
• Containerization management - Kubernetes and Docker
• Interacting with Development teams focusing on maximizing effectiveness without compromising production environments.
• Management and Operations of cloud systems and applications
• Support of application release activities
• Self-Managed and Organized, able to schedule own workflow
• Comfortable making recommendations at the Enterprise level, looking at systems holistically.
• Mentoring and Training of other Systems Engineers
• Automation workflow creation and management leveraging tools like Terraform and Ansible Tower.

Let's talk about you

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
• Strong Experience in AWS and or Azure
• Strong Experience in Linux RHEL/Centos
• Strong Experience with System Management tools
• Automation development experience
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server
• Experience with Terraform and Ansible or similar
• Experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, running HA and DRS
• Proficient with at least 1 scripting language (Python, Ruby, Powershell)
• Experienced with highly distributed environments having 100+ servers.
• Experience configuring load balancer hardware and software (F5 BigIP)
• Experience maintaining systems in a load-balanced environment
• Experience troubleshooting systems and cloud environments
• Experience using tools like Kubernetes, Elastic, Ansible Tower
• Experience automating cloud environments
• Experience with Development Cycles using version control (Azure DevOps, SVN, GIT, CVS)
• Advanced and proven experience achieving and maintaining 99.999% availability of networks and network services.

Required Skills

• Excellent communication skills
• A pragmatic mindset; passion for iterative experimentation
• Fluency in at least one programming language - preferably PHP, Python, or Ruby
• Extensive experience with Linux
• A propensity for solving difficult problems with clean, succinct, highly readable code
• Strong architecture and system design skills
• Bachelor of Science in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent work experience

Preferred Skills

• 3+ years designing, building, and maintaining powerful web systems in production, e.g. a secure API that abstracts computationally demanding, mission-critical back-end services
• Advanced Linux/Unix

• Docker, Kubernetes
• A/B testing
