Systems Engineer III - Requirements

Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin and Durham, North Carolina, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Sierra Space's Orbital Systems and Services (OSS) division focuses on the design, build, and operations of small satellites in support of commercial services and national security space and offers two work locations: Louisville, Colorado and Centennial, Colorado.
In the Systems Engineering Requirements and Verification role, you will support the requirements management, parsing, derivation, and allocation for the system, the segment, and the subsystems of small satellite programs. You will help to define achievable verifications, have an active role in developing the program test plan and ultimately perform the verification closures attesting to the fact that your system is ready for launch.
Must-haves:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 6(six) or more years of relevant experience
• Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
• Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

Preferred:

• Active US Government security clearance
• Domain expertise in any one, or more, of the following areas: Spacecraft Structures, Thermal Control Systems (TCS), Electrical Power Systems (EPS), Propulsion (Chemical, Solar Electric), Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C), Avionics, Communication, Flight Software, Mechanisms, spacecraft Integration and Test (I&T)
• Experience in spacecraft testing
• Experience working on complex systems
• Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB
• Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
• Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
• Exposure to baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
• Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
• Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
• Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $104,827.91 - $144,138.38
