Systems Engineer III (Requirements & Verification)
Job Description
Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, and Kennedy Space Center, Florida, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations.

As a Systems Engineer III (Requirements & Verification) you will be using your skills and expertise to help research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.
Must-haves:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline and typically six (6) or more years of relevant experience; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Understanding of requirements management, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V)
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Preferred:
- Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in spacecraft and/or human spaceflight programs
- Advanced experience with requirements and verification management and system modeling tools, such as DOORS, Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB
- Experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), including knowledge of SysML, UAF, digital twins and digital threads
- Knowledge of industry design and construction standards
- Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
- Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and technical performance measurements (TPMs)
- Experience conducting internal and external milestone reviews
- Technical experience in a spacecraft discipline (Avionics, Power, Thermal, Propulsion, Flight Software, Structures, Mechanisms, etc.)

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $101,774.67 - $139,940.19
