Systems Engineer - LiDAR Algorithms
Job Description
About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a systems engineer with expertise in lidar algorithms and systems analysis to drive the development and optimization of lidar systems in real-world scenarios. This is a cross-functional role with exposure to all the HW and SW teams in the company.
What you'll do:
- Systems analysis: Analyze end-to-end system-level issues through collaboration with HW and SW teams to understand factors affecting the system performance in real-world scenarios.
- Algorithm development: Develop point cloud processing algorithms in FW to optimize performance, and develop product requirements to meet design specifications.
- Performance Validation: Develop and conduct comprehensive validation procedures to qualify the release of new product variants.
What you'll have:
- Hands-on experience working with sensors to understand and solve complex system-level issues.
- Programming experience with C++ / Python / Matlab with a focus on algorithm design.
- Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience or a PhD with experience in developing algorithms.
- Good fundamentals in physics, mathematics, and signal processing, and excellent problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn, ability to communicate well, and demonstrate healthy drive and energy to understand and solve complex system-level problems.
Nice to haves:
- Experience developing product requirements based on systems engineering principles
- Experience working on point cloud processing algorithms for detection, estimation, and filtering
- Knowledge of working principles for radars/lidars
What's in it for you:
- Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
