Systems Engineer, Modernization

KBR, is seeking a Systems Engineer with a focus in software development/engineering to join our team to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligent Systems & Analytics (PM IS&A). This position supports the modernization of the family of systems. This is a remote position with occasional travel to APG, MD for key events.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for PM IS&A systems to interact with external interfaces and Systems of Systems (SoS).
  • Meet with contractor engineering and technical teams to develop an understanding of what data needs to pass and where. Translate those needs into detailed requirements for an API.
  • Lead the development and refinement of PM IS&A's HYDRA API.
  • Quantify existing system capabilities and capture new capabilities from the user community, SMEs, and PM Stakeholders to provide insight into system requirements for the development of future capabilities and missions.
  • Meet with Government stakeholders to characterize system capability for specification development, analysis, review, and verification.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT) focused on planning strategies to take advantage of data consolidation efficiencies.
  • Provide engineering and technical assistance to support the system objectives and ensure an integrated approach to product delivery into the PM IS&A enterprise.
  • Provide specialized system/software engineering, program management, risk management, and process-based methodology.
  • Provide technical support in the planning, authoring, and implementation of the PM IS&A Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Perform verification and validation of architecture information to promote consistency, interoperability, and integration.
  • Identify interoperability issues/gaps/shortfalls.
  • Prepare/contribute and update the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP) as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, System or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Ten (10) years of direct experience with intelligence, surveillance and/or reconnaissance software systems.
  • Direct experience with Department of Defense System Engineering processes with emphasis on software development.
  • Direct experience with API development.
  • Must have an active Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% travel is expected for this position. Required to travel to APG office once a month and travel to support up to 4 test events per year.

Work Environment:

  • This position may be performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, commercial and/or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, and test & evaluation and proving grounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Flexibility around core hours. Travel may be required outside of normal business hours.
