Job Description

About Epirus

Epirus is a high-growth technology company that develops solid-state, human-safe directed energy systems that enable unprecedented counter-electronics effects and power management solutions to enhance power efficiency in defense and commercial electronics. With a constant emphasis on innovation, we are redefining modern power systems to increase the velocity of change for our customers and bring tomorrow's capabilities to life, today.

Job objective:  Epirus designs and manufactures novel RF systems for a variety of platforms in a rapid development environment. The Systems Engineer, Power role is a multidisciplinary role, with significant breadth (interacting with all engineering disciplines) and depth (from customer needs
to unit-level specifications).  This role works particularly closely with the Power Engineering design team, facilitating Concept of Operations (CONOPS) definition, requirements definition and management at system, sub-system, and unit levels; integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) planning and execution, change management, interface definition, etc., for both Epirus designed and vendor purchased parts.  As a fast moving technology company, the Systems Engineering team at Epirus focuses on supporting the other engineering teams and facilitating rapid development, rather than focusing on overly bureaucratic processes.

Duties:
  • Track Electrical Power System architecture for sizing studies for new products, and baseline changes
  • Develop AC (3 Phase) and DC electrical power budgets
  • Coordinate electrical power requirements with subsystem design teams
  • Define and iterate on product concept of operations (CONOPS), with particular attention to power sequencing and power control (manual operation and/or software control)
  • Facilitate multi-discipline coordination across teams, including electrical power interface documentation for internal or external clients
  • Facilitate IV&V planning and preparation, including measurement (Ex. DVM, O-Scope, 3PH Power Analyzer), data analysis (Ex. Python), and resource planning
Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in one of the following: Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.
  • 3 to 10+ years industry experience, preferably spanning the entire product lifecycle (concept to field deployment)
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may be required
Desired Qualifications:
  • Aerospace/Defense experience and/or military experience preferred, or experience in Directed Energy or a similar industry (e.g. Aircraft Power, Expeditionary Energy, Facilities Electrical, Automotive / Electric Vehicle Power)
  • Experience with commercial and/or military 3 phase diesel generators (Sizing, Operation, Maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience with lithium ion energy storage (Full system operation with BMS, chemistry agnostic)

At Epirus, we work to create innovative power solutions to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. We are forward thinking in nature and committed to bringing tomorrow’s capabilities to life, today. To deliver on our mission, our team is comprised of individuals with deep expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering (including radio frequency and digital circuit design) as well as software design. We are always looking for top-tier problem solvers and changemakers to join our fast-growing team

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
