Your role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Pressurized Rover to join our JETS II team located at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, we do not have assurance at this time when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews. **
What you'll do all day:
- Work as part of a team that is developing the next-generation pressurized rover for Artemis crews on the lunar surface
- Work in coordination with other team members to perform systems engineering and technical integration across the lifecycle with internal, external, and international organizations
- Work on requirements definition, flow-down, assessment, and verifications
- Work on architecture definitions and functional flows
- Work on Concept of Operations refinement
- Plan, develop, and execute major project reviews and lead internal project reviews
- Prepare materials such as presentations, material reviews, and other related documentation for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR)
- Perform integrated analysis and margin management
- Perform technical baseline product development such as Main Equipment List (MEL), Mass Properties, PEL and THEL
- Perform critical path and technical risk management
- Work with team members to identify technical risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses including mitigation and avoidance actions
- Perform system hardware and software configuration management over the lifecycle
- Prepare certification and acceptance packages
- Perform discrepancy management and participate in material/failure review boards
- Plan test campaigns
- Lead development and deployment of special test equipment
- Perform test anomaly investigation and disposition
- Coordination and management of qualification and acceptance test requirement definition, assessment, and flow-down from system to unit/component level
- Lead test and verification tasks with emphasis on environmental, human in the loop, and interface testing
- Provide support to hardware owners in establishing overall hardware qualification and acceptance test planning to meet applicable requirements
- Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues
- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
- Perform other tasks assigned

Minimum requirements for this position:

- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.
- Work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment.
- Experience in systems engineering processes across the product life cycle.
- Experience with requirements development, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants
- Experience in space flight systems engineering including the successful delivery of space flight hardware to space.
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
- Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering products.
- Experience working with multiple NASA organizations.
- Experience working across NASA centers.
- Experience in technical or team leadership role.
