Systems Engineer - ServiceNow
Job Description
Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.
Verisign is currently looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Service Management Tools Engineering Team providing development and operations (DevOps) responsibilities across Verisign to internal customers. This role focuses on ServiceNow development including workflows, process automation, integrations, building and maintaining the service portal, supporting the ServiceNow platform, and development on Verisign’s inventory, audit, and compliance portfolio. This person must understand functional requirements to provide lean and effective solutions using the right technology stack in an agile manner. They will also support other teams in testing, implementation, and production support where needed.
The Systems Engineer position utilizes high level technical knowledge of software, hardware, networks and storage to collaborate with architects, systems administrators, database administrators, storage engineers and other systems engineers to develop, design, test, and support core infrastructure components. This engineer performs a variety of high-level engineering tasks around system design, implementation, integration and optimization, focusing on reliability, availability and scalability of infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Agile development experience
- Design, build, & implement technical solutions
- Experience with RESTful web services, Linux and scripting environments, ServiceNow application development, database, and server development
- ServiceNow development & operations
- Process, workflow, integration, portal, & application development
- Operations and technical support, maintenance, system upgrades
- Audit & Compliance development & operations
- Development of discovery, asset inventory, system integration, technical audit rules, and technical audit platform Â
- Operations and technical support including DB load and tuning, upgrades, monitoring queues, DB migrations and failovers, help users identify & remediate deficiencies
- Proactively identify enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and resource consumption
- Represent technical information to leadership
- Ensure key technical design documentation is completed to a high standard
- Be a self-starter/independent worker who communicates and coordinates well with peers and management
Qualifications:
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or commensurate work experience
- 8+ years of related experience in software and/or systems development
- Full Stack engineer with advanced computer programming skills
- Strong collaboration, communication, and team skills
- Preferred
- Certified ServiceNow Administrator and/or certified ServiceNow Developer
- Experience with PostgreSql, React, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Openstack, Perl, and Javascript, Jira
- Familiar with VMware, AIX, KVM virtualization and Docker, Kubernetes app virtualization
- Strong Linux, OS skills & Web UI experience
Educational Qualifications:
- 4 Year / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent) highly preferred
- Equivalent work experience or a Graduate degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred
