Systems Engineering O&M Support Manager (Remote Opportunity)

VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineering O&M Support Manager to oversee a large enterprise-scale federal contract. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the operational and maintenance (O&M) support activities for a COTS implementation project involving InterSystems IRIS on AWS, focusing on ensuring the smooth functioning of the system, coordinating upgrades and patch management, implementing change control procedures, and maintaining system documentation and knowledge management.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities related to the InterSystems IRIS implementation on AWS, adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, database administrators, network engineers, and security professionals, to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless system operation.
• Plan and coordinate system upgrades, including InterSystems components such as IRIS, Gateways, and Load Balancers.
• Develop and implement procedures for testing and deploying upgrades and patches in a controlled and efficient manner, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
• Establish and enforce configuration management processes to maintain a stable and consistent system environment.
• Define and enforce change control procedures to manage system modifications, ensuring proper documentation, testing, and approval processes are followed.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to assess the impact of proposed changes, evaluate the associated risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including system architecture, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, InterSystems IRIS, or ITIL certifications are preferred.
• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) managing O&M support activities for large-scale enterprise projects, preferably in a federal contract environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of InterSystems IRIS, AWS services, Linux Operating System, and related technologies.
• Knowledge of agile DevSecOps methodologies (CICD) and SAFe framework is a must.
• Experience with system upgrades, troubleshooting complex system issues, patch management, configuration management, and change control processes.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills to collaborate with stakeholders at various levels, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in the VA or other health-related organizations desired.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  
• Ability to manage integrated teams of employees and subcontractors.
