Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking an Engineering Integration Engineer with a strong technical background who can support integration of equipment skids for Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor technology. You will work in a small, highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program, by ensuring collaboration occurs in the preparations and readiness for construction and commissioning efforts of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate information and progress updates in a multidisciplinary team setting including internal and external stakeholders such as engineering, manufacturing, and operation technicians to achieve integration of components and systems
- Create, update schedule planning, coordinate tasks and priorities, and monitor project timelines of scheduled assignments
- Support the management and tracking of priorities/issues for multiple equipment skid buildouts across design, build, and test efforts to ensure success for the program
- Identify potential project schedule delays, escalate bottleneck issues, document process and procedures, and maintain records of information
- Support the resolution and work through specific cross functional issues (like non-conformances) that arise and require integrated solutions
- Support the maintenance of project schedules
- Performing other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, or other related engineering discipline
- 3+ years work experience in a technical engineering position is preferred
- A scrappy team player, who will actively pitch-in wherever necessary - with excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Desire and ability to function in a fast-paced small company environment with ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities, with careful attention to detail
- Experience (internships/school projects included) with managing schedules, manufacturing, hardware development, or testing is desired
- Experience with multi-disciplinary system assemblies is desired
- Experience with equipment bills of material and procurement process is desired
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team
- Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
- Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
- Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
Physical Conditions
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
Environmental Conditions
- General office environment
- Noisy environments (if in production areas)
- Small and/or enclosed spaces
- Odors or fumes from chemicals or chemical reactions
- High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced
Safety and PPE
- Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
- Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes, as required
Travel
- Some travel may be required (up to 20%) to other Kairos Power offices
