Job Description

Our Company

Miso Robotics is transforming the restaurant industry, and making food workers’ lives better. Our signature product is an AI-powered kitchen robot named Flippy which automates the dangerous operation of a restaurant’s fry station and cooks all sorts of fried items. Flippy is powered by a sophisticated AI platform driven by our proprietary and patented technologies.

Miso is a well known first-mover in kitchen automation, AI, and robotics. The company has raised over $125 million from equity crowdfunding, which we believe makes it THE most successful crowdfunding story in history. It has successfully piloted its products with the most prominent global brands in food, and now it’s time for the company to scale.

The company recently added a new CEO and other senior leaders, including a new CTO – all of whom hold decades of experience operating growth companies. Our CEO has a track record of successful exits, and we recently accepted a strategic investment and partnership from Ecolab (NYSE: ECL), a $70 billion public company which, as the global leader in sales of cleaning solutions to restaurants, truly knows how to operate at scale. Our new leadership team is evolving the company’s culture from early stage to growth stage with new processes and disciplines, and is supported by a board that includes the former President and CTO of OpenTable.

With Ecolab’s support, we are building a world-class team, and are looking for more exceptional people to join us.

This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in hands-on environments and enjoys tackling complex integration challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure reliable operation and communication between various system components, including sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software integration issues in live kitchen environments to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with the software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of robotic systems.
  • Develop robust middleware and backend solutions to manage communication between kitchen equipment, robotic systems, and external devices.
  • Create testing frameworks and processes to validate the functionality and performance of integrated systems.
  • Work closely with the product and deployment teams to install and support robotic systems in real-world kitchen environments.
  • Stay current on industry trends in industrial communication protocols, embedded systems, and robotics technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems integration, embedded systems, or industrial automation.
  • Strong experience with hardware interfacing and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC-UA, CAN bus).
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, the Linux environment, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with embedded systems and designing interfaces between hardware and software components.
  • Strong backend integration and middleware development skills, with experience ensuring smooth communication between hardware, software, and external systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize hardware/software interactions in real-time operational environments.
  • Ability to work in our HQ in Pasadena, CA.

Desired Multipliers:

  • Experience with commercial kitchen equipment and infrastructure, and their integration with external platforms.
  • Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and experience integrating robotic systems with these platforms.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and control systems in industrial or kitchen automation settings.
  • Experience with robotic systems or automation in food service environments.

Compensation:

Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 + equity + benefits.

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range for candidates residing in the Los Angeles Metro area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.
