As a Systems Integration Engineer I, you will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, simulate, integrate, test, certify, and support cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from state of the art mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems.
You'll be responsible for designing systems to meet demanding customer requirements, developing and building complex systems integration labs to verify the design, and integrate a variety of systems together to create a seamless product for the customer. As a cross functional engineer, you'll perform system and component-level integration of new products and develop new integration processes throughout the product lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support system engineering activities including but not limited to requirements identification, verification and tracking, interface definition and ICD development, working with design organizations and cross-functional teams, supporting I&T and mission operations planning, etc.
  • Support preparation and conduct of major technical reviews, including design and test/launch readiness reviews; may serve as a technical interface to customer or other stakeholder organizations
  • Author technical and engineering memos as required
  • Interpret customer requirements and decompose them into hardware and system requirements and specifications
  • Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field of study and typically three (3) or more years of related experience
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for required education
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Understanding of requirements management, Verification and Validation (V&V), systems integration and test, and system and infrastructure operations
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills (written, verbal, and graphical)
  • Ability to brief technical subjects to both technical and non-technical people and delivering key messages and insights from analysis products
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work rapidly with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
  • Willingness to work on a small team performing fast paced and complex engineering design evaluations for a diverse mission where everyone's input matters

Preferred:
  • Integration and/or test experience on spacecraft and mission infrastructure throughout the lifecycle (concept development, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and operations)
  • Experience in the integration and operations of spacecraft systems (with depth in one or more subsystems such as propulsion, software, avionics, communications, sensors, electrical, structures and mechanisms, thermal management, GN&C, C&DH, TT&C, and payloads) and space operations infrastructure (mission systems, networks, ground systems, assembly and integration, environmental test)
  • Experience developing models, simulations, and automation using software and software languages such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Systems Tool Kit (STK), or C++
  • Experience with software tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Confluence, JIRA, and PLM suites such as Xcelerator, Envovia, and Windchill
