Systems Architect (Data Movement)

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting Systems Architect to join our Data Movement Technology organization.

The Systems Architect in BBH's Data Movement team is a combined architectural design, technical leadership, hands-on development, and platform administration/support role that is vital to delivering on important initiatives and managing the key technology platforms for the growing Data Movement Technology group. This role will leverage existing, matured systems as well as more emerging platforms to evolve the Data Movement technological capabilities of the Firm along the dimensions of security, systems resiliency, and scale of both the technology and the operations that support it.

Some of your additional responsibilities include:

Planning and Organization

• Identify technical opportunities and risk reduction initiatives to improve the overall quality and resiliency of technology platforms
• Evaluating key technologies and driving thoughtful solutions
• Assist with technical planning for major technology initiatives for the organization

Design and Implementation

• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of highly resilient and performative technology platforms and systems
• Be hands on with development on more complex deliverables (as required)

Platform Administration and Support

• Provide technical guidance, support of technical execution for technology related projects
• Share in platform administration, support, and maintenance activities as required (including off-hours/weekend work as necessary)

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science preferred, other Technology and/or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years' experience in designing and implementing system and application architectures.
• 4+ years' experience in a development capacity
• Experience in engineering/developing/implementing applications and services in a distributed environment
• Comfortable with Linux & Windows, including shell scripting
• SQL Databases - SQL Server, Oracle preferred
• Java 8+ with language feature understanding (Lambda, functional Interfaces, streams, etc.) preferred
• UI Development - Angular & JavaScript preferred
• Software build tool familiarity: Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, CI
• Rest-based API knowledge
• Apigee Experience (or equivalent API management technology) a plus
• Willingness to work in small teams or individually
• Technical curiosity

Salary Range

BBH's compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $105,000 to $145,000, which is specific to Jersey City, NJ and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
