Department Overview

Our customers are public safety agencies, governments and military organizations who use our mission critical communications systems. The Security Update Service team, part of the Motorola Solutions cybersecurity services organization, protects mission critical systems by ensuring security updates are verified, tested, and installed.
Job Description

As a systems security engineer, you will be responsible for vetting security updates, developing, testing, deploying, and documenting solution(s) for mission critical systems.

Responsibilities 

• Certifying Security Updates for use on Motorola Solutions Products

• Experience with version control software (i.e. Git, BitBucket).

• Communicate with different team members within and outside the organization to resolve defects/issues

• Test, config and debug automation tools

• Troubleshoot system and network issues that result from updates 

• Provide reporting on the status of running systems, applications, and updates

• Hands on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems 

• High level knowledge of networking concepts (i.e. network devices, IP addresses, ports, and protocols)

• High level knowledge of virtualization concepts (VMWare ESXI)

• Creating/updating test plans

• Experience performing troubleshooting, break fix, or technical support on Windows or Linux operating systems

• Experience using SharePoint, Jira, or other project tracking systems

• Must have strong organizational skills

Basic Requirements

• Experience in one or more programming/scripting languages (C, C++, C#, Shell, Powershell, Bash, Node.js, etc)

• Due to the nature of some federal contracts, US Citizenship is required.
