Tableau Developer also referred to as Application Dependency Mapping and Reporting Analyst is a core role in the Application Dependency Mapping practice at AHEAD. The analyst works with the infrastructure discovery and application/service mapping lifecycles along with their associated technologies (specifically Device42 and Tableau). They are the subject matter expert (SME) for infrastructure discovery and application service reporting on the Tableau platform. The analyst works closely with other technology SMEs to build accurate reports and dashboards for application service maps. This includes working with customers to understand their needs, designing and building data visualizations to meet those needs, and deploying and maintaining those visualizations in a production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Uses Device42 data for discovery, inventory, and data collection of client environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and visualizations
- Engage with stakeholders and customers to understand data needs and requirements.
- Develop creative visualizations and solutions to complex problems.
- Stay up to date on the latest Tableau features and functionality to ensure dashboards are utilizing best practices.
- Monitor dashboard performance and usage metrics, troubleshoot issues as needed
- Establishes and maintains discovery and mapping schedules.
- Monitors discovery and service mapping results; reconciling and addressing any anomalies.
- Troubleshooting discovery problems related to application service mapping.
- Coordinate efforts with other SMEs & vendors to correct application mapping errors including any discovery, reporting, or mapping errors.
- Independently work with Customers and SMEs to ensure that accurate service map data is gathered and reported.
- Participate in projects including preparing project plans, assigning tasks, monitoring statuses, coordinating efforts, validating team recommendations, integrating efforts into a comprehensive strategy, and delivering results on time.
- Produce stock and custom reports detailing all aspects of Service Mapping statuses.
- Continual process improvement
- Creation of Standard Operating Procedure & FAQ documentation
Qualifications:
- Expert Knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Tableau Reader, Tableau Online, and Tableau Server.
- Experience manipulating large datasets using ETL
- Experience with Flexera Cloudscape, ServiceNow Discovery/MID, Device42, BMC Helix, Cloudamize, or FireScope is highly preferred. Experience with an infrastructure monitoring platform like Solarwinds, ManageEngine, Dynatrace, etc. could also be useful
- ITIL certification.
- Understanding of IP networking including addresses, ports, protocols, firewalls, NAT, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot a network connection by using ping, traceroute, netstat, and other commands.
- Understanding of common application architectures (monolithic, layered, peer-to-peer, containerized, etc.) and components (database, middleware, presentation layer, etc.)
- Basic understanding of IaaS/PaaS cloud computing.
- Ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets in Excel, Power BI, and Tableau
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to business leaders using verbal communication and visual aids such as PowerPoint.
